Dear Future Robinson Rocket Students and Families,
Your mission (should you choose to accept it) is to get ready for a school year that is “OUTTA THIS WORLD!” I hope that you had a fun, restful summer because as soon as we get back to school next Tuesday, we are blasting off into a whole new adventure! That’s why we are the Robinson Rockets because I know that you are going to ROCK-IT this year. Are you ready for an awesome ride? I know I am!
This will be such an amazing year, full of new discoveries and exciting adventures. On our journey through fifth grade, we will learn all about exponents and develop a deeper understanding of fractions and decimals. We will explore the history of our great nation and enjoy some amazing field trips that highlight the end of your elementary school experience. We will read some great novels that will make us laugh, cry, and definitely make us think.
I am sure that you have been wondering all summer about your new teacher, just as I have been wondering all summer about my future students. I am a graduate of Rochester Community Schools; I went to Hugger Elementary, Hart Middle, and Rochester High Schools. It has been so fun to return to the district where I received the best possible education and preparation for my future. I have been teaching children for 10 years; however, I spent the first few years teaching kindergarteners and then taught fourth grade for 5 years. Now, I am so excited to be teaching fifth grade for the second year. I love everything about teaching the upper elementary grades, from the rigorous curriculum to the wonderful, maturing minds of the students. I am grateful for the opportunity to give back to the Rochester Community the great education that was given to me by preparing its next generation of students.
As we navigate through this fifth grade year, I know we will come together and grow exponentially. I will send home a letter detailing my classroom policies and procedures on the first day of school. I am really looking forward to next week. In preparation, for the first day of school, you have the world’s easiest and most fun homework assignment. The directions for your Rocket and your Brag Bag can be found by following the links below. I can’t wait to meet you! All you’ll need is your “homework,” a great attitude, and a big smile.
Together in Teaching,
Mrs. Robinson

PS- You will also want to bring a nutritious snack on the first day of school as well.
